Kimmirut, home to approximately 397, is a traditional Baffin Island community situated on Hudson Strait at the mouth of the Soper Heritage River.

This community is home to an abundance of flora and a variety of animals and birds including caribou, seagulls, ravens, seals, beluga whales, fox, arctic hare, wolves and occasional polar bears. This area is rich in art and culture and many residents are remarkable carvers.
